I started using this book for a high school course, and then just for fun I started reading another book. I thought this was a good book, but the other one WAY outclassed it in every way. I ended up learning most of it from other, way better books. The book I used was C++ Primer Plus 3rd Edition by Stephen Prata, and I also ended up using C++ Primer by Lippman, Effective C++ by Scott Myers, and the Strousstrup 3rd Edition for a reference. Everyone who just stuck to this book can't write very good code compared to what I learned in other books. If your school requires this book, getting other books will help you a lot. With the right books, computer science can be empowering and motivating. C++ books are organized into invaluable gems and common riffraff. I consider this among the better riffraff.

To IT students, C++ is a real tough subject. This book provide sufficient detail about the methodolgy of solving the problem. Compared to other text books(involoving too much library template), this book is real big hit for fresh guys.

This book is a good text for novice programmers. Although it sometimes goes into too much details (a bit wordy), it explains everything clearly. The examples given in the book are easy to understand and the layout and printing format are good. Since it is for beginners, it contains almost all basics however doesn't include much advanced stuffs.
