Read this and then watch Evil Dead (again). It is unbelievable. I see the movie from a totally new perspective. Oh, that opening scene on the water is Bruce Campbell pushing Sam Raimi on a raft, there's where they rigged that lever to make that deadite look like she was floating in the air, there's where there's two people under the floor to look like scattered body parts wriggling. Behind the scenes stuff like that is amazing to me. Since obviously Evil Dead as Bruce Campbell's first movie gets the blow-by-blow treatment, I got the feeling that no other movie experience has ever been the same for him. The whole thing from financing to final edit was solely left to the filmmakers with total creative control. I wished I could've been a part of that hellish shoot for the craziness they must've experienced! And that's only one portion of the book. I work in a bookstore, and I read almost the entire thing on my shift one day, bought it and finished it the next day. I still re-read my favorite parts, and I usually don't like biographys. Buy it, read it, make Bruce Campbell sign it when he comes to your town, and cherish it.

..wasn't this one. But what a fun read it was! I was amazed when I heard that Bruce Campbell was writing his biography. Frankly, he's not that old, nor famous, nor does he have that remarkable of a story to tell. And yet, the kicker is that Bruce KNOWS all of this...he wrote the book anyways, and it's a great entertaining read.

Seeing Evil Dead II in the theatre was one of the most ingrained movie going experiences of my life. It's a thrill to read all of Bruce's exploits surrounding his movie making as well as his TV adventures. Jokes abound!

Bruce has a real wit that translates excellently to the page. This comes through especially strong in his childhood adventures and in his work on the TV show "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr."

So if you want to have your life altered, read something else. If you want to smile and have fun for a few hours and read about the life and times of a "REAL" actor...then check out this book.

To sum up this title in one word..."GROOVY!"

Bruce Campbell has done a magnificent job of writing his autobiography with a twinkle in his eye. He covers his life in Suburban Detroit with his family and his future co-workers in the Evil Dead. What comes across is a man that both loves his craft as well as understands his position in the "B" list position of Hollywood. Campbell Spends a great deal of time writing about his experiences from both the Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. The movie is fun to watch, but it certainly not fun to make. Campbell gives an inside look at the whole process and how unglamorous it actually is. Campbell also writes how tough the acting life is on families. He writes about his divorce and why she left him. He also writes about how there are long periods of time between the work and dealing with this. He does not name names as some books do on the dirt, but he does mention some of his personal peeves of some actors and if you know the movies he writes about, you can figure out the actor. Mostly this book is alot of fun, full of pictures, and it is truly a nice way of passing time. Highly Recommended
