Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl tells of a young Jewish girl's experiences through adolescence in the midst of World War II and Hitler's genocide against her people. On her thirteenth birthday, she was given a diary in which to write her thoughts and feelings. She, her family, the Van Daan family, and Dr. Dussel tried to adjust to life in the Secret Annexe. Her diary, which she named Kitty, was written from her heart with no superficiality. This makes reading it a great experience. She discussed in the book many issues prevalent in her life as a Jew. She talked about the Zionist movement and the hardships Jews endured in Nazi Germany. They could only shop in certain stores designated for Jewish use. She wrote about her father and sister's fear of deportation, which would have almost definitely resulted in going to a deadly concentration camp. It is a good read because of the way it intertwines childhood and the Holocaust and speaks of both candidly. She wrote about her feelings and encounters with friends and family. She let out her anger at Hitler and described the new reforms that made her life much harder. She thought she had found a good friend in Kitty. Little did she know that one day her story would impact thousands around the world, even if she was only a young girl.

Anne Frank ! ... a name that always brings a Sigh from the deepest part of my heart...a name that makes me think of angels , the fraility of human emotions & the steel that is the human spirit...unbreakable!A name that makes me want to hang my head in shame for being a part of the human race that could perpetrate such cruelty...! This book is the recorded emotions of a little girl struggling to maintain a balance betwixt despair & the fear of death & her love of life...but as u read thru' her deepest fears & loves written for her eyes only ,it is often hard to believe that these writings originated from a 13-15 year old heart because they have the insights of a mature soul! I was deeply saddened by the entry where she records her desire to live on after her death thru' her writings later on in life & her wish to publish a book on their life in hiding titled 'The Secret Annexe'...saddened because her wishes came true in such a twisted way ...I highly recommend this book because though it leaves you with an ache deep down ,it also leaves u with a belief in the human spirit & a joy of having known {even if indirectly} a person like Anne Frank...a soul to admire ... Hers was a life snuffed out too soon...& oh! So cruelly...

Anne Frank, a 13 year-old, strong-willed, and courageous girl, is living in the Secret Annex during WWII to escape the Nazi regime. Anne, along with her family and close friends, are hiding from the Nazis because they are of the Jewish faith. Anne falls in love with Peter, a 15 year-old boy who is living with her in the Secret Annex. They become very close as they spend time in the attic trying to escape Peter's annoying mother. The group living in the Secret Annex has to be extremely careful. If they make too much noise, they have a chance of being caught. If they are caught, they will most likely be sent to a concentration camp. Any loud noise or movement could cost the eight tenants of the Secret Annex to die.
"Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" is an amazing book. It lets you realize how lucky we are to live in the world we live in today. The struggles that Anne and the group go through to live a "normal" life are nothing like anyone in today's world would be forced to go through. It allows people interested in WWII to gain information as to what is was like to live during the war.
"Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl" is a must read. It is ver informative, yet allows the reader to learn about WWII in an interesting way. So, if you like WWII and are interested in learning what it was like to live back then, this book is for you. It is also a good piece of historical fiction. Pick it up today!
