Wow! A christian who has walked where I have walked. I was beginning to think I was the only former "bad girl" in the christian community. This book has changed my life. I related to Rahab. Liz showed me through Rahab's story that no matter what the past, God is a redeeming God. Wow! Rahab went from being an outcast prostitue to the great great great...grandmother of King David....Jesus Christ liniage. God is amazing!

I bought this book thinking that it would be similar to Jonathan Kirsch's "The Harlot By The Side of the Road", which I thought was a 5 star winner in every respect. I should have read the reviews more closely.

The stories, drawn from the Bible and given modern fictional counterparts, attempt to show us how what these "bad girls" did was wrong to others, but more importantly wrong to themselves as well- thus the "And What We Can Learn From Them" subtitle. While the book has entertaining lessons, Liz is a Christian Fundamentalist and her writing has that sickly sweet feel to it, and I found this irritating.

The bottom line is this: if you are a fundamentalist-type Christian you are probably going to _love_ this book. If you are secular or a more intellectual type of Christian you may well be entertained but will find Liz's constant "Jesus gushing" annoying. A better read for you would be the Kirsch title mentioned above.

Three stars, and I'm still debating as to whether this book will find a permanent place in my mid-sized and rapidly growing scripture-related library.

I thought this book was really great. I love how in depth she goes into each verse. It's really neat to learn how the verse is translated into different versions of the Bible.

I hope people don't take the woman who called her "too serious to be a mature christian" to heart. That is a very judgemental phrase. I hope we all can be as happy and giddy as Liz is about her devotion to the Lord.
