Little worried ...

Postby hamster on Mon Sep 18, 2006 5:09 pm

I posted this elsewhere on the board, my apologies. But I know we don't all read every subtopic.

**

Those of you on this board who interact in the real world with our dear Pimienta, would you possibly reassure me that all is well with her?

I know, being the busy bee that she is, that she goes on various trips and such, but it's been a week since she posted or responded to any PMs.

I'd feel better knowing that I just missed some message she sent about another trip to Mexico or DC or something.

Well, she is trying out for WIBC, All-state, and All-NW. At least I think it's all of those.

Wow! She aims high, which is good considering her career aspirations!

I hope she makes every single one of those goals.

Let's all cheer her on and wish her well, as she is a good friend to so many of us here! :thumb:

In some parts of the world, people do celebrate by firing weaponry. They attempt to reduce the accidental massacre of the celebrants around them by firing up into the air, though, unlike your irresponsible smilie. However, a bullet fired into the air, following basic laws of physics, will come back down eventually and often tragically, a fact not usually taken into consideration by said celebrants.

Is that where the term "a hail of bullets" come from?

An interesting observance indeed.

I wonder how many tragedies there have been at athletics events due to the starter pistol...

Probably not many, since blanks are used for sporting events, as opposed to your typical rabble rouser, developing world rally.

Well ... yes, all right then. But what about flares? Not the dodgy seventies fashion accessory, but the big bright ones fired when someones in distress. I wonder if anybody's been killed by their own plea for help?

I can't help myself.

The concept is funny, in a sick sort of way.

"Here comes a plane -- where's my matches, *&^%%, light, light, darn you! Pfft! Blimey, it's comin' right back at --- aagh ---boom!"
