2007/01/18 - Modern Human and Neandertal

Scientists recently found some evidents that modern human might have cross bred with Neanderthals....

That could have explained why sometimes we couldn't program our VCRs.

Can you program your VCR (or DVR), do you think you might be affected by the Neandertal genes?

I thought this was fairly established fact?

Some theorists have suggested that Neanderthals were not wiped out but were assimilated into the Cro Magnon population when that reached the Iberian Peninsula and there was no where for the Neanderthals to go. A similar thing occurred in modern times with, I believe it may have been, the Moors. Where the leftover population was absorbed, with any outward differences in appearances being 'bred out' after about 200 years.

I ate my VCR. It was ggod.

There were a couple theories before. One of them claimed that morden human ate the Neanderthals as lunch. They had found stone-age lunch box containing Neanderthal chops. But seeing that fossils are really hard to come by, there isn't enough evident for any of the theory. The recent discovery only strengthen the "marriage" theory, but the verdict isn't final.

FYI, VCR is not eatable, I found that out after I accidentally swallowed 3 of them.
