Concentration Span

Postby Bomadeno on Fri Jul 11, 2008 9:47 pm

I know most people here have a short concentration span (myself included). Not many of us can stay on topic longer than a page. I can't stay on topic longer than a single post. It turns out other people think I have short concentration too. Is this a bad thing though? Just because I want to think about lots of things, instead of one topic, does that make me worse at thinking?

I still want a way to find longer concentration for things though, as it would help me finish assignments and stuff.

I find one way of concentrating is to concentrate on two things, and switch between them every 30minutes or so. Like today, I've been cleaning and reading a book in cycle. I think I get more done this way... How does everyone else concentrate?

well a short concentration span isn't too bad
I think it helps people to change topics when they need changing
and to widen their conversations

however when concentration is needed I find it very hard
I tend to concentrate on clocks whenever I'm supposed to do something
for instance I will tell myself to start something at one time and finish it say a half hour later
however that doesn't help a whole bunch so I wouldn't suggest that method to any one

I've used that a bit too before, tub I tend to forget to be looking at the clock, and forget what I was doing, and then realise about 8 weeks later I never did finish [insert something here].

In another attempt to increase concentration on important tasks (boohoo growing up) I have just invested in one of those office in/out box things. Invested... taken from under piles of dust, last time i tried the scheme... The investment was dusting the things.

I will feed back if it works(or doesn't)! The radio just had an "ode to the frazzle". It was pretty wired... Oh well. I guess some people love frazzles. I think they're ok tub somewhat salty.
