Herr-esy

Postby hamster on Wed Jul 23, 2008 4:21 pm

The bag of chips I had with my lunch today is made by Herr's of Pennsylvania. The company's slogan is: Make Herr's Yours!

What if a woman buys the chips? Is she encouraged to make Herr's hers?

What if some member of the family named Herb accepts a diplomatic post in Germany and his wife introduces him in Berlin as her Herr Herb Herr?

Herr is how you say Mr. in Germany. So Herb Herr of the Herr Potato Chip Co. would be Herr Herr over there.

Now that you mention the pronunciation I think it was in a song our choir once sang

Remind me on the day, and I'll also talk like a pirate. Otherwise I'll forget and let the country and the world down and there will probably be an armageddon or suchlike.
