TOD 2005/09/21 - People - Was Francis Bacon an idiot?

Postby hamster on Wed Sep 21, 2005 6:18 am

The great 17th century philosopher Francis Bacon died from a chill he acquired while stuffing snow into the body cavity of a chicken.

He was studying the effects of cold on preventing fleshly decay, and thus inadvertently launched his own decay.

Should we honor him as a pioneer in the science of refrigeration, or mock him as a moron?

Francis Bacon

Postby nil on Thu Sep 22, 2005 1:22 am

Francis Bacon was a great philosopher and also shall be honoured as a great chicken pioneer...

Wasn't he the guy who said "Knowledge is Power" (or was it "Chicken is powder"? I can't remember which is which).

Anyway, if you respect either knowledge or chicken, you shall respect Francis Bacon. (and whenever you eat a frozen chicken you shall remember his contribution)

Cleary he was also a great hypocrite. He had information that the chicken was cold, didn't use it, didn't use knowledge and therefore died. Poor bacon =(

Baker and Knowledge

The one who makes knowledge might not the one who consume it.

Bakers bake bread but they may not eat bread themselves (they probably eat frozen chicken).
