senior project

senior project
Submitted by Pimienta on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 - 06:05

recently in senior project, we all had to take personality tests. I came out to be an INFP which stands for introvert, intuitive, feeling and perceptive. According to everyone I talk to on a regular basis, I am not an introvert but every time I think I don't want to start a conversation, I start one because being an introvert is anti social as my dad says and I shouldn't be anti social. Any how when reading the description of it, I realised that it is a lot like how my brain works even if I sometimes choose to ignore my brain when it says, "are you crazy what if that person's mean they might be mean to you if you start a conversation." which my brain is always saying when meeting new people. oh well I guess the advice the essay on my personality type gave for overcoming the weak social skills is already taken.

This is a bunch of ramblings because I felt like posting but didn't know what to post.

I think people have the definite ability to overcome a lot of their brains' "weaknesses."

A shy person can train him or herself to be more outgoing. An introvert can work to become more extroverted.

I think I was a shy kid but various situations (being a military brat and moving all the time; going into a career where I talk to different people every day, etc) forced me to change that aspect of my personality.

Every so often, though, I still find myself feeling quite socially awkward -- the old me bubbling back up to the surface, often when I'm not expecting it all.

I think it's great that Pimienta is working to overcome her shyness.

It is possible to change aspects of one's personality, such as being introverted. I think I was a shy kid, but moving around so much as an Air Force brat, and then going into a career where I have to talk to new people almost every day, has forced me to be more outgoing.

There are still times when I get surprised by a moment of terrible awkwardness, just to remind me, I think, of the original hardwiring in my brain.
