Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book 4), is written by J.K. Rowling, was released on 2000-07-08, is made by Listening Library, Usually ships in 24 hours. The list price is around US$39.95. (*The prices are subject to change) Street price is around $26.37.
Triwizard Tournment ,Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasly.
Harry potter has a horrible life under the commands of the Dursleys. He wants to get to Hogwarts, a wizard and witchcraft school, one of the three, Beaxubutions and Durmstrang. This year the Triwizard Tournment is happening at Hogwarts it hasn't happened in over one-hundred years.
The champions are Viktor Krum, one of the worlds greatest seekers, Cedric Diggory, a fellow hogwarts, Fluer Delacour, a Beaxbutions student, and Harry Potter, himself! The problem is Harry did not put his name into the goblet of fire. He is too young. Who put his name in the goblet of fire?
Draco Malfoy and his gang of Slytherins have badges that say "Vote For Cedric Diggory, The Real Hogwarts Champion". If you press it into your stomach, it says "POTTER STINKS".
The first task is easy for Harry it gets harder and harder until the final task.
I would recommend this book to readers who like fantasy and magi...

The Penultimate Peril (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 12), is written by Lemony Snicket, was released on 2005-10-18, is made by HarperChildrensAudio, Usually ships in 24 hours. The list price is around US$20.00. (*The prices are subject to change) Street price is around $15.60.
In this latest installment of the Series of Unfortunate Events, the Baudelaires arrive at the Hotel Denouement for the meeting of the Volunteers. But first, the Baudelaires must first check out the hotel to make sure that the last safe place is indeed safe. While disguised as concierges, the Baudelaires encounter a number of characters from previous books. They must figure out if these people are volunteers or villains before the meeting on Thursday. If they find that the hotel is not safe, they must signal to the volunteers not to come. The title of the book (Penultimate Peril), suggests that there is one more volume to come, but this book reads like a finale. I highly recommend everyone to read a new series titled Why Some Cats are Rascals, Book 2

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2), is written by J.K. Rowling, was released on 1999-12-01, is made by Listening Library, Usually ships in 24 hours. The list price is around US$34.00. (*The prices are subject to change) Street price is around $22.44.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (year 2 at Hogwarts) is a fitting follow-up to the first book. It succeeds at continuing the mystery-solving, tongue-in-cheek good humor of the first story, which makes it fun to read, and yet it also begins to introduce many of the central themes and elements of the series as a whole. Several very memorable characters are introduced to the series here (Mr./Mrs. Weasley, Dobby the house elf, Lucius Malfoy, Fawkes, etc.) It is also where we begin to learn about Voldemort's past.
I could spend a great deal of time complimenting this book for its wit, humor, and overall enjoyability, but suffice it to say that it is a fun read--and a quick read, which cannot be said for the latter portion of the Harry Potter series. The only major "gripe" that I have (and I may be the only one) is that in this book, the believability of the adults/teachers in the story--already dubious in book 1--takes a turn for the worse. I personally find it hard to believe that so li...

Eldest (Inheritance, Book 2), is written by Christopher Paolini, was released on 2005-08-23, is made by Listening Library (Audio), Usually ships in 24 hours. The list price is around US$45.00. (*The prices are subject to change) Street price is around $34.20.
The follow up to Eragon is not quite as good as the original. I liked Eragon more because of the development of Saphira. Now that she's grown up and the relationship between her and her rider has plateaued, the other elements aren't as interesting. Plus, the ending is downright unbelievable and unrealistic given the situation leading up to it.
And it's available in Amazon UK, but I'm not sure about the price. |

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (year 5 at Hogwarts)... This is a very tricky book for me to review. I have mixed feelings about it for a lot of reasons, which I will elucidate momentarily. However, I decided to award it 5 stars, based more on my "gut reaction" than anything else. Here's why:
This book is chalk full of some of my absolute favorite moments in the series. The character of Umbridge, while extremely one-dimensional, is also very effective as a foil to Harry in this book. She frustrates me to no end, and I dearly wish her to get her comeuppance. Thus, any circumstance in which someone stands up to her (notably, Fred and George, McGonagall, and Dumbledore) is an absolute delight, and these are the moments that stand out in my mind when I think about the book. We also meet the fantastic, imaginative character of Luna Lovegood, one of my favorites.
Another great thing about this story is the fact that the central struggle is not between "good and evil," (i.e...

Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1), is written by Christopher Paolini, was released on 2005-04-26, is made by Knopf Books for Young Readers, Usually ships in 24 hours. The list price is around US$10.95. (*The prices are subject to change) Street price is around $8.76.
Sure, it's good for a 17-year-old, but that doesn't make it good literature. I've personally seen better Fanfictiction than this.
So many elements of the plot, locations, even names are almost shamelessly derived from other works of fantasy, such as 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'Star Wars'. I read this in 6th, and, of course, loved it. Now I've gone back, re-read it, and it's almost painful, how so much of this over praised purple brick is clearly written by a kid. It's good for a 17-year-old, sure, but to me, that doesn't save it from still being bad.
Nonetheless, if he keeps this up, Paolini shows great promise at an older age. But for now, I'd much rather read Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials', or anything by Tolkein, rather than this overrated hunk of a fantasy novel. Lil' kids'll probably love it, but anyone older will probably be able to see exactly how poor and clichéd this writing is.
In UK, it sells for £5.56 |

This book was worse than bad - it is well-written misinformation that will leave the reader thinking he or she has been well-informed. Clearly written from a Christian perspective, the author bends and twists history to the breaking point to make it fit his world-view. In this book, all of the historical claims of the bible are accepted as fact, when many are in dispute or are seriously doubted by serious historians. Characters of the Old Testament that may have never existed, and events that may have never happened are presented as if they have as much legitimacy as secular history. At one point, the author claims that the Dark Ages were actually more like a starry night because the people of Europe had the guiding light of "their Lord" shining on them. Ugh!
In addition, the author characterizes other historical figures in overly romantic terms. Alexander, Julius Caesar and Augustus are spoken of with great reverance, with little notice of their brutal, amoral behavior. Modern historians...

I enjoyed this book more than the first. The majority of the story takes place inside the story of Inkspell. I could hardly stand to put the book down. It has a lot of action and adventure. It also has love, but not so much that it takes away from the story. Also, with the way it ended, I really can't wait for Inkdeath, although I will be sad to see the story end.
