Our Grandchildren love the series. Our 8 year old reads the books and our 4 year old goes to bed at night listening to her favorites on CD. We were spoiled, I guess, when Wendy's had a promo of 4 different books. Each had their own CD. We thought it was great to get more of these audiobooks from Amazon, until they arrived and 8 books were condensed into 5 CDs. Very child unfriendly. I guess we will be making our own CDs as well. I wish I would have read the reviews before purchasing. Books are great, just didn't think we would have technical problems.

Great for car commute!

I have a four and a half year old and a two and a half year old. When we moved and our commute to daycare went from 7 minutes to 35 I was very nervous about the car time. I invested in some audio books, among them this set. My kids LOVE listening to the adventures of Jack and Annie in their Treehouse - and these stories introduce them to topics, places and times that they would not have encountered for several years. As a result we've watched video of moon walks, looked at pictures of ancient Egypt and searched the internet for pictures of ninjas! While the books would be too "old" for them if we were to sit down and read them together, on tape in a car they are perfect. Even my 2.5 year old has his favorites - and my 4.5 year old asks for the Jack and Annie stories when we are going short distances too. During our first go-through I enjoyed the tales and wondered during the work day how the adventure would turn out! Even after having listened to each story more than a dozen times, the author's narration is soothing and a welcoming calm tone for the drive home.

Magic Tree House Collection: Books 1-8

All the MTH stories are great. My 4 year old enjoyed them from the start. We got a free CD from Wendy's with his kid's meal. So we had to get the rest of the series. Some are more informational than others but they are interesting and fun.

The only problem I have with this audio version is that each episode is not on a separate cd. Instead they overlap. It makes it difficult to listen to one particular story. Plus when it's time to switch to the next cd it doesn't say so, it simply starts the disc over again. This causes confusion. We listen for a while and then realize the story has changed. Usually audio stories that are continued on another cd tell you "to continue this story change to disk # 2."

And when my boy wants a particular story I can't just pull out THAT disc and listen to it. I have to get the disk and search for the start of that story. It is a pain. But especially when he wants to be independent and do it himself. It is just frustrating.

I have no problem with the books or the recordings just the way it is organized to overlap.

Excellent Shipping! Wonderful product. I have never heard of the Magic Tree House but was pleasantly suprised by the CD. My three year old goes the bed listening to the story!!!
