New direction of this blog

Seeing this blog has been dead for the last year, it's time to move to a new direction.
We just got a few new users, hope they will be actively expressing their opinions...
Decision 2008 - US President Race
Submitted by rest on 29 February, 2008 - 00:53. PoliticsThis is one US election I don't feel too negative about. All the leading candidates looks reasonably capable. Barrack Obama sounds rational and intelligent. John McCain looks experienced and well versed. Even Hillary Clinton seems marginally acceptable.
But the election isn't all flowery and rosy. The worst candidate I think is Mike Huckabee. His speech is great, as good as Obama, but his intelligent is at the level of George W. Bush. His view on Iran showed his ignorance. It is sad, but seems unavoidable, that he may become the vice president running-mate for John McCain, in order for him to reach the conservative votes. I guess nothing can be perfect? I just hope that John McCain, if elected president, won't die too soon and leave the throne to Huckabush.
Some Americans got a mental problem
Submitted by angryBob on 18 April, 2007 - 21:34."If the students in Virginia Tech had been allowed to carry guns, this tragedy could have been prevented."
I heard this comments repeated again and again, in many online forums. Even some readers from the left wing news site agreed with this.
You can even see this in this comic by Mike Lester
These Americans got a mental problem. The influence of the Rambo-fantasy had seriously degraded their mental capacity. Retarded. Moronic. Idiotic. They have a mental problem. These people are no less dangerous than the Virgina Tech Shooter.
The Hair Machine Dilemma
Submitted by zen on 9 February, 2007 - 00:09. PoliticsAccording to the hair doctor: Baldness is caused by "bad hair".
Fact: "bad hair" kills "good hair", 1 "bad hair" can kill 100 "good hair".
Fact: An average person has an average of 100,000 hairs, out of which 0.1% are "bad hair", 99.9% are "good hair".
A hair machine can identify a bad hair and terminates it before it kills the good hairs.
We have 2 brands of hair machines:
Brand A: It identifies 50% of bad hair as bad hair, and will also misidentify 1% of good hair as bad hair.
Brand B: It identifies 90% of bad hair as bad hair, but will also misidentify 10% of good hair as bad hair.
Rationality of Iraq War
Submitted by peace on 25 January, 2007 - 22:53.The intention for the war on Iraq was good, or at least pragmatically good.
In the pragmatic sense, US invade Iraq. US companies get control of the oil reserve, US people get cheaper oil and better economy. The Iraqis get rid of their hated tyrant, with a removal of sanctions, better economy, a pretty good economic assistant plan and a quasi democracy.
It's a win - win - win solution... assuming of course the Iraqis will cooperate.
Since the Iraqis are not "cooperating", everyone lose. The oil production got sabotaged. People got killed (more than when there was a tyrant), economy wasted, democracy broken. It became a lose lose lose situation. And American tax payers paid a lot of tax money and human lives, without even getting any oil benefits... So it's all the fault of the "non-cooperating" Iraqis.
Why 1+1=2 is false
Submitted by angryBob on 18 January, 2007 - 05:28.Why has the theory "1+1=2" become so widely accepted, and why has any alternate theory come to be viewed with such hostility? In this essay we examine the foundational premises of "1+1=2". We consider the evidence mathematicians cite to support the theory. Perhaps most important, we look at the scientific facts mathematicians don't discuss in public—for reasons that will become clear. You can know whether "1+1=2" is true. We hope you'll examine the evidence carefully. What you believe does matter.
Certainly not all scientists agree that "1+1=2" and that we as human beings must acknowledge the law of mathematics. In 1671, the London City Board of Education asked Madame Washer*, who was closely related to the famous scientist Sir Isaac Newton, for her thoughts on the theory of "1+1". Here's how she responded: "For me, the idea of 1+1 is not conceivable without invoking the necessity of other numbers. One cannot be exposed to the law and order of the mathematics without concluding that there must be other numbers behind it all. In the world around us, we can behold the obvious manifestations of 1+1 is equal to anything but 2….
Surge of Bush and the Shift of Blame
Submitted by peace on 14 January, 2007 - 00:38. Politics‘To oppose everything while proposing nothing is irresponsible,’ Bush Said.
Brilliant. I always thought Bush is brilliant. Unlike all his critics, who thought: "Bush is like a rock, only dumber." If you really listen to his words, you will think Bush is brilliant, at least his brain is. By his brain, I don't mean the hazelnut-sized organ in his hollow skull, I meant Karl Rove. The quote must be his idea.
Imagine you just made a gigantic mistake of invading a little country in the Middle East, opening the Pandora box of terrorism, bankrupting the greatest economic in the world, ruining the reputation of the first democracy in the west, handicapping the mightiest empire in history, would you have the guts to stand in a crowd and call other people, "irresponsible"? Bush is not only brilliant, he is courageous.
